With more than 14 years experience, the Douarskoll Guesthouse offers a truly professional service. We offer our customers a comfortable stay and a truly Moroccan experience. The host Mohamed speaks fluent French and American/English and has a university degree in French Linguistics and Literature. Sharing rooftop discussions with him helps you better understand the rich culture and traditions of Morocco.
Guests are impressed by the traditional style of the building; it is well located too: just 5 minutes walk from the famous main square, Djamâa El Fna, and is surrounded by the traditional handicraft markets and monuments (dyers, slippers, copper…, and the 1559 built Mouassine fountains). We are also famous: our neighborhood was chosen for shooting the film Sex And The City 2, and the 1956 Alfred Hitchcock movie The Man Who Knew Too Much. Also close to our property are The Marrakesh Museum, The Medersa (the old koranic school) and other cultural sites.
The house has 4 different rooms each with its own shower (with hot and cold water). Our most attractive feature is our roof terrace with an exceptional view of Marrakesh's old town and surrounding mountains. Here you will find a canopy and a colorful garden to take in the air and sounds of Marrakesh. A tasty breakfast is included: you will enjoy the Moroccan Msemen pancake, local bread, jam, butter, pressed orange juice and traditional Moroccan mint tea. Make sure you don't miss the amazing and traditional cooking of Mohamed; the delicious dinner he offers includes Moroccan tagine, fruit juice, salads and Moroccan mint tea with sweets. On request, he could teach you how to create some Moroccan cuisine. During your stay, we offer a cooking experience from our chefs who are experts in Moroccan cuisine. They will teach you how to prepare some amazing local dishes. Later, lunch or dinner will provide an opportunity to taste your efforts!
If you are interested in understanding the basics of the Arabic language, Mohamed will spend time with you to help you learn. For the ladies, you can try the public local bath (hammam, and the bath house is 2 minutes walk from the guesthouse). The bath lady could accompany you when to go bathing. You can experience amazing softness of your skin.
You can request an airport pick-up (for a cost of 15 Euros); just supply your flight details: airline, flight number, departing airport, and expected time of arrival in Marrakesh. Our driver will meet you at Arrivals. We will provide detailed maps of Marrakesh's old town. The Marrakesh native Mohamed has an in-depth knowledge of the country, and he takes time and pleasure in answering your questions to help you plan your trips - in Marrakesh and outside of the city in the nearby mountains or desert. We arrange expeditions to interesting areas such as Ouarzazate, Zagora, Merzouga, Essaouira to see the ocean and the Portuguese fortifications, or to the mountains closer to Marrakesh such as Ourika Valley, Ouirgane, Imlil. There will, of course, be opportunities for camel riding. We have selected a trips company with a reputation for high quality service.
After walking inside the markets all day, at night you may need to relax: so stay in with your fresh beer under the canopy on the terrace in front of the lighted Koutoubia mosque's minaret. Then entering your bed in your own private room, you will enjoy the quietness of the house; this is the main guarantee of a good night's sleep. By the end of your stay here in Douarskoll Guesthouse you will feel as though you are living at home. We would like to let you know that the house provides towels, hair dryer and has WIFI Internet access.
