Welcome to the Lorna Dune! Our beach house is perfectly situated in beautiful Isla Del Sol on Galveston’s West End. Overlooking a wetland preserve that provides hours of entertainment for wildlife and bird watchers alike, the backyard pond adds an extra bit of magic to this perfect island getaway!
You can’t help but feel at home the moment you walk in with soaring ceilings that lead to the second floor loft area with one full size bed and two twin beds. Perfect for adults or kids. The main level has two sitting areas to accommodate those who love movie night and game night (at the same time)! The kitchen opens to the living area creating the perfect open layout for those that love to entertain. With wall to wall windows the entire home is flooded with light all day long giving you those vacation vibes you’re looking for! Just beyond the main living area you’ll step outside to the spacious covered balcony complete with dining for eight, oscillating fans, and two overstuffed rattan chairs and ottomans perfect for a margarita sipping, breeze in your hair, bird watching kind of afternoon! In addition to the loft there are two private bedrooms with ensuite restrooms, one with doors to both the bedroom and hallway. Both rooms have access to the back deck overlooking the pond complete with adirondack chairs allowing you to lounge while taking in the views.
Don’t forget to bring your binoculars! You will see rabbits, birds, turtles and maybe even a beaver or two! Off of the back deck you will find yet another set of stairs that lead to the roof top deck that doubles as a stargazing platform, sunbathing terrace or just a place to get away from it all and enjoy the gulf coast views of the ocean and the bay!
If your idea of paradise is outdoor living then you’re at the right spot! Our downstairs living area has everything you need to take your vacation from great to epic! With an outdoor kitchen complete with sink and grille along with two fans (a must for Texas in the summer!), dining for eight, adirondack chairs, porch swing, barstools, shower and of course a television ready to stream all of your favorites, you’ll feel like a true islander while you’re flipping your burgers and singing along to Jimmy Buffet!
The Lorna Dune is a short 5 minute walk to the beach, 30 minutes to Downtown Galveston and The Strand, 20 min to Pleasure Pier area and about an hour from Houston. You can drive your car onto the beach and park in the designated areas for easy loading and unloading of all your beach day supplies.
Looking for a fun place to enjoy a cocktail, a little karaoke, a delicious brunch or a simple family dinner? Look no further than the West End Marina located a few min away! It’s definitely the island's best kept secret and we promise you will enjoy everything from the ceviche to the coconut shrimp and the chicken and waffles during Saturday and Sunday brunch!
We recommend you bring the food you need but have no fear… There’s a small grocery store near! A few miles down the road you'll find Seven Seas Grocery. This is the quintessential small town grocery store with a dash of beach flare. Enjoy strolling the isles and all of the rustic island charm!
One last note… This house is a part of our family and we love nothing more than sharing its magic with people like you. This house is wonderful for families and friends to come together and share moments that become life long memories! What this house is not for… the kind of partying we did when we were 20 something. You know what I’m talking about. Insanely loud music, beer pong until 3am, 10 cars in the driveway, giving zero cares about the house or the neighbors. Been there, done that. If any of those activities sound remotely appealing to you, please keep searching for a better fit. We know the neighbors, a policeman lives across the street and well over 75% of the residents in Isla Del Sol are here full time so trust me when I say hosting an all night rager won’t fly. We don’t discrouage partying - we want everyone to have a great time! We simply discourage the act of treating our home like it’s not your own.
