Positive: My wife and I had an amazing three night stay at ABU Guest House. Not only was the room comfortable and well-appointed, but the location of the guest house on beautiful Elephantine Island was top-notch. We enjoyed walking around the island independently, hiring a boat to Kitchener's Island, and taking the public ferry across to Aswan. We felt safe and comfortable doing this on our own, and it was a really fun adventure! The proprietor, Abu, is one of the most kind and accommodating people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He arranged transit for us from the Aswan Airport and then on to Luxor for very reasonable prices. He also delighted us on multiple occasions by bringing us koshary to try as well as accommodating our vegetarian diets at breakfast. He also facilitated an evening felucca ride to the First Cataract which was truly magical. For dinner on two of the nights, we enjoyed a delicious vegetarian tagine at the guest house's associated restaurant, Kush, as well as a beautiful golden hour with hibiscus tea at a neighboring guest house. We were even allowed to do our laundry for free at the guest house, which was very helpful since other guest houses in Egypt often charge per item for washing! Our time at ABU Guest House was very special. We loved the location on the Nile and the warmth and hospitality of Abu and his family. I highly recommend staying at this guest house.
